World Soccer Cup
On the 3rd of April, I’ll be in London, I’ll be playing for Team Australia with a famous Australian Soccer star Mark Bosnich. I’ll lead the team against Team Canada, captained by Daniel Negreanu. Six players in total – 3 Aussies, 3 Canadians. The winner goes through to the Semi-finals, and then the finals. So, my plan is to be in London, and enjoy my time, and win the tournament. In Europe, we’re having the World Cup of Soccer, which is a massive event all over the world. In Australia, we obviously play Australian rules football, which is like soccer, but we use an NFL ball, which makes it a bit more fun, and there are no rules. Soccer is the milder version. In the 1930’s, women’s soccer was actually the more popular versions. There was once a game where 100,000 people came to a women’s match. I just heard that….pretty amazing.
So, we have Mark Bosnich playing for us. We were talking to Harry Kuehl, who is a massive player, but he dropped out, and Mark is in. Mark is a huge star as well.
After London, I will be in America for a month. I am coming straight to Bellagio from London, and playing in the $25k WPT Championship, then the first IPA Tour event, then the Mirage WPT, then the Caesars WSOP event. See you all there. Thanks for the kind comments, by the way…Your support means a lot.
NBC Heads Up – I’m out
OK, I’m out of the NBC Heads Up. I faced Mike Caro. He got an unbelievable run of cards – he seemed to get every single hand early on. I managed not to go broke for a long while. We got to 600/1,200 blinds, which is very steep, I managed to make it all the way back to 15,000 from a short of 5,000 without ever being all in. I picked up AK, and made a bit of a move by calling on the button. Mike looked down, and found two eights, and moved all in. Obviously, I couldn’t fold AK in that situation. So, I went in with it, and an 8 popped out on the flop. I was drawing dead on the flop, and that was that.
Mike had an unbelievable run of cards. It was really hard. He seemed to have pairs, and big hands nearly all day. He deserved to win – he beat me. He is the Mad Genius….he made some interesting plays. He checked a Straight Flush on the river. I have no words for that. With an Ace, and four hearts on the board, and you have the pure nuts, I don’t know how you check there, but he did. He obviously made a mistake. He was a very nice man, and it was a pleasure to play with him.
I look forward to my next tournament. I have a lot of things to take care of now. I will be back in Las Vegas in April, and there will be a lot of tournaments coming up for me in April & May. See you all soon.
NBC National Heads Up – Mad Genius First
Well, its Tony G versus the ‘Mad Genius’ of Poker, Mike Caro himself. I am very happy with my draw. This is the NBC National Heads Up Championship….millions of viewers. All the big names are here. I’m staying at Caesars, getting ready to win my first round. I’m really happy to play this guy. I used to read his books – I respect him, but I like my chances against him. In heads up, you need a bit of luck, and it will be fun.
This is a really fun event, and I am hoping to have a few good days, and win the whole thing. Only the first round now, I will continue to update here.
